Pink Oyster Mushroom Substrate
Tropical Straw-Based Blocks

Premium Substrate Blocks for Commercial Pink Oyster Cultivation

The Pink Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus djamor) is the “sprint-crop” of the exotic mushroom world.
Famed for its striking coral-pink hue and rapid colonization speed, it is a tropical variety that thrives in warmer climates where other species might struggle.

With a flavor profile often compared to bacon or seafood when pan-seared, the Pink Oyster is a high-demand item for farmers’ markets and specialty retailers.
CNC Substrates exotic mushrooms provides two products, one based on high-performance 95°C pateurised beech blocks and straw-based, both specifically calibrated to handle the aggressive metabolic “heat spikes” of this vibrant species.

Substrate Formulations

As aggressive decomposers, Pink Oysters generate significant metabolic heat during their rapid growth cycle.
Our substrates utilize a high-cellulose blends specifically processed for immediate ‘leap-off.’

This mechanical refinement allows Pleurotus djamor to colonize the material in record time, establishing biological dominance and minimizing the window for competitors. The result is a structurally stable, nutrient-dense foundation that ensures a vigorous and predictable start to every production cycle.

High-Volume Straw-Based Substrate

The Industrial Standard for Cost-Efficiency

Designed for large-scale commercial growers, our straw-based substrate is the ideal choice for farms where volume is high and cost-per-kilogram is the critical metric.

  • Format
    17.5 kg blocks.
  • Best For
Industrial-scale farms with automated handling and high-capacity climate-controlled rooms.

Key Advantages

  1. Cost-Effective
Utilizing high-quality cereal straw from our circular supply chain, these blocks offer the best economic return for high-tonnage production.
  2. Bulk Pasteurized
Processed to maintain a beneficial microbial balance that protects the crop during large-scale incubation.
  3. Optimized for Logistics
Standardized sizing for mechanical racking and industrial transport.

Precision Wood-Based Substrate

The “Ready-to-Fruit” Solution for Specialty Growers

For smaller farms, urban producers, and specialty growers, ease of use and hygiene are paramount.
Our wood-based blocks provide a premium, low-labor alternative.

  • Bulk Sterilized
Produced in Europe’s only bulk-sterilization facility, ensuring a completely clean environment for elite mycelial growth.
  • Ease of Use
Lightweight and easy to handle manually, requiring no specialized machinery or large-scale infrastructure.
  • Ready-to-Fruit
Delivered in an advanced state of colonization, allowing for rapid turnaround—often moving from delivery to harvest in 7–14 days.
  • Premium Quality
Wood-based media typically produce denser, meatier clusters with a superior shelf life for the specialty retail market.

The Supplements

Nitrogen Supplements

To fuel the aggressive growth and vibrant appearance of this variety, we utilize a balanced nitrogen supplement of wheat bran.

This targeted enrichment provides the metabolic energy necessary for the intense pigmentation and heavy pinning typical of the Pink Oyster.

By optimizing the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, we ensure the mycelium has the resources to support multiple flushes of dense, high-quality clusters while maintaining peak biological efficiency.

The Sterilization Standard

Substrate Preparation & Thermal Treatment

The material is hydrated to a precise 65%–70% moisture content using filtered water, ensuring the mycelium has the necessary hydration to support the high water demands of the developing fruiting bodies.

Our Grey Oyster substrate undergoes a rigorous thermal processing cycle tailored to its specific composition.

We utilize bulk pasteurization for straw-based materials to maintain a selective microbial balance, and high-temperature sterilization for wood-based substrates to ensure the complete elimination of competitive fungi and deep-seated pests.

This controlled thermal and moisture profile ensures a reliable, pathogen-free start for every production cycle, regardless of the substrate medium.

Product Formats

  • Inoculated (Incubating): Freshly inoculated blocks.
Pink Oyster is one of the fastest varieties in our library, typically completing colonization in 7–12 days.
This format is ideal for growers who can manage high-airflow incubation rooms to dissipate the significant biological heat generated by this species.
  • Ready-to-Fruit (Fully Colonized): Blocks at peak maturity.
Advantage: Pink Oysters have a very short shelf life once harvested.
By purchasing Ready-to-Fruit blocks, growers can precisely time their harvest cycles to meet market demand, moving from induction to first harvest in as little as 4–6 days.

Strain Library

We use common commercial standard strains in Europe.

  • Commercial Standard
Focused on a massive, thick stem with a dark, marbled cap.
Excellent storage life and resistance to bruising.
  • Custom Inoculation
Available for large-scale commercial contracts (>10.000 blocks).

Yield Expectations

Pink Oyster is characterized by its explosive first flush.
It is common for this variety to produce the majority of its yield within the first 10 days of fruiting.

Straw-Based Substrate

  • Biological Efficiency (BE)
    50% – 70%
  • Yield Data
For a 17.5 kg pasteurised block, growers can expect 2.25 kg – 3.15 kg of premium clusters over 2–3 flushes.

Wood-Based Substrate

  • Biological Efficiency (BE)
    40% – 50%
  • Yield Data
For a 2.5 kg sterilised block, growers can expect 0.350 kg – 0.450 kg of premium clusters over 2–3 flushes.

Growth Characteristic
Highly sensitive to light and oxygen.
Our blocks are designed to support the massive oxygen uptake required to produce the thick-stemmed, meaty clusters that characterize high-quality Pink Oysters.
